Below are some recent highlights:
The 25th version of the Java SE platform was published in September! As part of this,
the Final Specification, Reference Implementation, and Technology Compatibility Kit for
JSR 400, Java SE 25, was published as the JSR's
Final Release.
In addition, JSR 269, Pluggable Annotation Processing API, proposed changes, held
its 19th Maintenance Review, was approved by the
Executive Committee, and was then published as Maintenance Release 11
as part of the Java SE 25 platform release in September.
But of course the Java SE platform continues to develop. JSR 221, JDBC 4, proposed a set of
changes to the specification as Maintenance Review 5,
which was approved by the Executive Committee in December and will be incorporated into the Java SE 26 release in 2026.
The next iteration of the Java SE Specification, JSR 402 Java SE 27, began.

Through the Java in Education initiative, we have been collaborating with
Java community leaders to inspire junior developers and students in their local communities to learn and use Java technology.
This is a global, JUG-led effort supported by the JCP Program.
Many JUGs have taken part in this initiative, and we have interviewed a few about their involvement. Check out the following
articles about Dominican Republic Java User Group and Hokkaido JUG to learn more about their experiences.
There are many ways to get involved in the initiative. If your JUG has stories or experiences to share, please reach out to us.
We'd love to help highlight your JUG's involvement and achievements.
We are also working to increase the number of languages available for our materials. If you are interested in helping translate these
resources into your language, please contact us at pmo@jcp.org. We are happy to help you get started. Your efforts can make a real
difference for the next generation of developers learning Java!
The mission of the Java Ecosystem working group
is to educate and increase awareness around Java ecosystem third party tools and libraries to increase adoption of modern release processes by third

The latest topics include new features in JavaDoc and Spring Framework release models. Listen to
the December Public EC Meeting to learn more.
