We are very excited to announce that the Java Community Process (JCP) Program Management Office (PMO) Newsletters
are returning! Here is your Summer 2024 edition of the JCP PMO Newsletter. This Newsletter is intended for JCP
Members, Executive Committee (EC) Members, Spec Leads, and Java Community Leaders, but it is accessible to
everyone.

Below are some recent highlights:
JSR 269 Pluggable Annotation Processing API and JSR 199 Java Compiler API proposed changes to update those specifications with Maintenance Reviews in parallel with the Public Review of JSR 398.
The Maintenance Leads of JSRs 337, 384, and 392 published Maintenance Releases of the Java SE 8, Java SE 11, and Java SE 17 specifications. All this was in anticipation of the Public Review Final Approval Ballot and subsequent Final Release of JSR 398 Java SE 23.
The Final Release of JSR 398 Java SE 23 was also accompanied by the Maintenance Release 4 of JSR 199 and the Maintenance Release 9 of JSR 269.
We are accepting nominations for the 2024 JCP Annual Awards now.
The Award categories this year are:
- JCP Member/Participant of the Year
- Java in Education Community Award

Who are the EC Members and what do they do?
Some of the key responsibilities of the EC Members are to guide the
evolution of Java platforms and technologies, review and approval of the JSRs, and provide the
guidance to the JCP PMO.

The 2024 JCP EC Election nominations will open on September 17 and close on
September 30. If you have an interest in participating in the JCP EC, look at the elections
page and start preparing the nomination materials now. The ballots will be sent to the JCP members eligible to
participate in the EC elections on November 5. Last day to cast vote is November 18, and the results will be
available on jcp.org on November 19.
The JCP hosted a Public EC Meeting on June 11, 2024. Thank you to those of you who were able to join us live.

The JCP has turned 25 years old in 2023, and we have been celebrating this incredible milestone
with the Java User Groups (JUGs) around the world!

Through the Java in Education initiative, we have been
working with the Java community leaders to inspire their local community of junior developers and students
to learn and use Java technology. This effort is global, JUG led, and is supported by the JCP Program.
Any JUG leader interested in this initiative is welcome to join the group.
