Welcome To The Newly and Re-elected Members To The JCP Program ECs! The
2005 JCP EC Elections concluded on 15 November. The open elections
declared the following members elected to the executive committees: On
the Standard/Enterprise Edition (SE/EE) EC, Intel Corp. and Hani
Suleiman. On the Micro Edition (ME) EC, Sony Ericsson Mobile
Communications AB and Symbian Ltd. The elected members will serve on
the
respective ECs for the next three years. Earlier in the elections
process the ratification ballot confirmed six EC members to the JCP
ECs:
BEA Systems SAP AG and SAS Institute Inc to the SE/EE EC. And Nokia
Corporation, IBM and Philips Electronics UK Ltd on the ME EC. For a

The PMO will be on holiday from 26-30 December 2005; returning 2
January. This means no 2 week ballots can start on 13, 20 or 27
December. Also, no Community Review or Early Draft Review ballot can
start on 20 or 27 December and no Maintenance Review can end between 23
December 2005 and 1 January 2006.

ongoing bi-weekly basis. If would like to

JSR 286, Portlet Specification 2.0, is now available and approved for
development in the JCP program. Version 2.0 of the Portlet
Specification
plans to align with J2EE 1.4, integrate other new JSRs relevant for the
portlet, and align with the WSRP specification V 2.0.
- JSR 287, Scalable 2D Vector Graphics API 2.0 for Java ME, is now
available for review. This specification will define an optional
package
for rendering enhanced 2D vector graphics and rich media content based on select features from SVG Mobile 1.2, with primary emphasis on MIDP.
- JSR 247, Data Mining 2.0, has published a draft for Early Draft
Review. The review is scheduled to close on 11 January 2006.
- JSR 106 , XML Digital Encryption APIs, is now available for Public
Review. The review is scheduled to close on 11 January 2006.
- JSR 253, Mobile Telephony API (MTA), has published a Proposed Final.
- JSR 244, Java Platform Enterprise Edition 5 Specification, has
published a Proposed Final Draft.
- JSR 228 , Expert Group for Information Module Profile - Next
Generation (IMP-NG), has completed its work and published the Final
Release of the specification.
- JSR 144, OSS/J Common API, has made available a Maintenance Release
2.
- Other OSS/J news: Nokia Profile Manager 3.0 certified as a compliant implementation of the OSS/J Inventory API V1.0 (JSR 142). Comptel
InstantLinkR provisioning completed certification for the OSS/J Service
Activation API (JSR 89) interface.

The email "Siemens Mobile becomes BenQ Mobile" sent to the JCP
community
on 3 November by JCP Chair, Onno Kluyt, had some Spec Lead status
