This is the March/April edition of the Java Community Process (sm) (JCP sm) Program Management Office (PMO) Newsletter. This Newsletter is sent to JCP Members, Executive Committee (EC) Members, Spec Leads. This edition covers recent news/events, the JCP Program Annual Awards, the EC Special Election results, Java Specification Requests (JSR) updates and new members.

This year the JCP program office will accept nominations from the community for the the JCP Program Awards in six categories. There is still time to submit nominations?please submit online or via email to pmo@jcp.org by 4 May. http://wiki.jcptest.info/boards/index.php?b=3

The winner in each category will be determined by Executive Committee (EC) vote. Please register and submit your nomination and justification for each category ?if your nomination wins the award, you will receive a gift from the JCP program office.

**Special Election**

If you want to know more about a JSR of your interest, please take a look at the Community Update Pages accessible from all JSR detail pages. Your comments are much appreciated by Spec Leads and can influence the work of the Expert Groups.



The following JSRs submitted an Early Draft Review (EDR):

  • JSR 321, Trusted Computing API for Java.
  • JSR 329, Portlet 2.0 Bridge for JavaServer Faces 1.2 Specification
  • JSR 282, Real-Time Specification for Java 1.1

JSR 325 submitted a Public Review for approval and comment; the EC ballot closes on 18 May.

The following JSRs submitted Proposed Final Drafts (PFD):

JSR 235, Service Data Objects, passed Final Approval Ballot by the SE/EE EC.

JSR 109, Implementing Enterprise Web Services; JSR 179, Location API for J2ME; JSR 224, Java API for XML-Based Web Services.; JSR 256, Mobile Sensor API; JSR 257, Contactless Communication API.; JSR 281, IMS Services API; and JSR 215, JCP version 2.6 were active in Maintenance phases.

Spec Leads: A reminder that if you have notified the PMO of an upcoming posting in the JavaOne time frame, all of your materials must be sent to spec-submit@jcp.org on or before 13 May 2009. Materials submitted after this time may not be posted before JavaOne. It is unlikely that any postings will happen during the conference. Instructions for submitting materials for posting are found in the Spec Lead Guide online: http://jcp.org/en/resources/guide

**New Members**



Join the PMO in giving a warm welcome to new members!

The following Java User Groups (JUG) joined in March and April: JUG-RU, JUG-Macedonna, JUG-Utah, JUG-RIO, JUG-WUG, JUG-Duchess.

There were 2 new corporate members: TQTVD Software Ltda (Brasil) and Dynatrace Software GmBH (Austria).
