October marks the official start of the 2009 EC elections. The nomination phase is open now. Every JCP member can nominate themselves during this phase of the election, which lasts two weeks, closing in less than 7 days, on next Thursday, 14 October. To nominate go to: https://eballot.votenet.com/jcp

Due to changes introduced by JCP version 2.7 (see above), this year there will be only one voting period for both the ratified and elected seats. There are 12 seats open (out of 32). The ballot will run 20 October – 2 November. Primary contacts will receive voting instructions via email. More information about the EC elections is here: http://jcp.org/en/whatsnew/elections.

As you may have noticed, the JCP program office recently completed a major revision to the jcp.org web site. One of the changes was to introduce public discussion boards open to any registered user of jcp.org for each JSR. The forums are tied to mail aliases in the format of jsr-x-public@jcp.org; note that this board/alias replaces the jcp-comments aliases. You can find links to the discussion boards on each JSR page in the format of http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=x (x is the JSR number). There are also a variety of discussion boards for general topics here: http://wiki.jcp.org/boards/index.php

For subscribers of the jcp-interest mailing list, please note that announcements about the progress of JSRs and general JCP announcements will now be posted to the jcp-announcements board. The jcp-interest alias will no longer be used for such announcements. If you have not viewed the jcp-announcements board yet, please do so. It is located here: http://wiki.jcp.org/boards/index.php?b=1

All JCP program members should be registered users of jcp.org; for more detailed information and an introduction on using the features of the new jcp.org site see: http://jcp.org/en/introduction/intro
