Java Logo Programs Available
Now it's easier than ever to access Duke images. A logo library of 15 Duke images is now available for use in a variety of places such as web sites, blogs and email signatures. Duke is for everyone--pass along the word.

The Java Get Powered logo is available for Java enthusiasts and developers who want to show their affiliation with the Java community.

Evolution of the JCP Program in Progress
Among the latest JSR proposals submitted to the JCP is JSR 306, Towards a New Version of The JCP. The JCP program has been evolved several times to respond to the needs expressed by Java developers, JSR 913 led to JCP 2.1, JSR 99 created JCP 2.5 and the current Java Specification Participation Agreement (JSPA), and JSR 215 gave the community the current version - JCP 2.6. This new process change JSR is setting things in motion to further the transparency of the process, continue to optimize the pace of development and the participation in the JCP program. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (EC) ELECTIONS 2006

jcp iconThe EC Elections, will run 3 October - 13 November. The ratification
ballot was posted today, 26 September, and ratified voting will begin 3
October. The JSPA 2 contact(s) for each JCP member company or individual
are eligible to vote and will be sent their voting PIN via email on 3
October. Nominations for the remaining seats (2 on the ME EC, 1 on the
SE/EE EC) can be submitted this year from 17-27 October. If you or your
company is interested in joining the EC, it is time to prepare your
nomination. The nomination form will become available from the voting
web site on 17 October. Open election voting will follow from 31 October
-13 November, with final results on the 14 November.

Noteworthy JSRs

Did you know that the PMO offers Public Relations support to spec leads? The JCP conducts outreach to the press with JSR news on an ongoing bi-weekly basis. If would like to highlight your JSR, please contact Corina Ulescu at corina@jcp.org.
  • JSR 305, Annotations for Software Defect Detection, has been approved
    for development in the JCP program. This JSR will work to develop
    standard annotations (such as @NonNull) that can be applied to Java
    programs to assist tools that detect software defects..
  • JSR 306, Towards a new version of the JCP, is now open for review and
    EC vote until 2 October. This JSR proposes a variety of changes and
    adjustments to the JCP.
  • JSR 307, Network Mobility and Mobile Data API, is now open for review
    and EC vote until 2 October. This JSR provides API's for initiating and
    controlling data sessions in a mobile device and providing applications
    control over wireless network selection.
  • JSR 283, Content Repository for Java Technology API Version 2.0, is
    now available for Early Draft Review. This review closes on 30 October.
  • JSR 190 , Event Tracking API for J2ME, is now available for Public
    Review until 23 October.
  • JSR 230 , Data Sync API, has published a Proposed Final Draft.
  • JSR 269, Pluggable Annotation Processing API, has published a Proposed
    Final Draft.
  • JSR 231, JavaTM Binding for the OpenGL® API has published Final Releases of the
    specifications.
  • JSR 239, JavaTM Binding for the OpenGL® ES API has published Final Releases of the specifications..
