It's been a busy few months of industry conferences for the JCP program

The Call for Submissions to the fifth annual Duke's Choice Awards, which
celebrate extreme innovation in the world of Java technology is now
open. Duke's Choice award selection is based on the innovation and
creativity of the Java technology-based applications and services,
including: web applications and tools, mobile applications and services,
games and card-based applications. Winners will receive a statuette of
'Duke,' the Java technology mascot and be recognized for their
achievement at the at the 2007 JavaOne conference. This year, one of the
Duke's Choice award winners will once again be chosen from the many
applications featured on java.com. Full details and the submission form
for the Duke's Choice awards are available at:

This March the JCP program office will host a conference call meeting
for Spec Leads and Expert Groups to interact with each other and ask
questions. Stay tuned for more details.
And for a bit of interesting trivia, the Spec Leads with the most JSRs
in the JCP program are Jon Courtney with 13 JSRs, and Danny Coward with
12 JSRs!

leads? The JCP conducts outreach to the press with JSR news on an ongoing bi-weekly basis. If would like to

- JSR 310, Date and Time API, has been submitted for review. The review for this JSR closes on 12 February. This JSR will provide a new and improved date and time API for Java.
- JSR 309, edia Server Control API, has been submitted for review. The review for this JSR closes on 5 February . This Specification is a protocol agnostic API for Media Server Control. It provides a portable interface to create media rich applications with IVR, Conferencing, Speech Recognition, and similar features.
- JSR 289, JSR 289, SIP Servlet 1.1, is now available for Early Draft Review. This review closes on 16 March..
- JSR 271, Mobile Information Device Profile 3, is now available for Early Draft Review. This review closes on 5 February.
- JSR 264, Order Management API, has published a Proposed Final Draft Specification.
- JSR 280, XML API for Java ME, has published a Proposed Final Draft Specification.
- JSR 173, Streaming API for XML, is now available for Maintenance Review. This review closes on 26 February.
- JSR 291, Dynamics Component Support for Java SE, has completed Public Review and passed the ballot. The specification may be downloaded here and comments should be sent to jsr-291-comments@jcp.org. The JSR is being run with an Expert Group mailing list to which anyone may subscribe. The archives are viewable to anyone without needing to subscribe.
- The Expert Group for JSR 248, Mobile Service Architecture, has completed its work and published the Final Release of the specification.
