From the PMO


  • JCP Elections. The 2008 JCP EC Elections concluded on November 17 . Warm congratulations from the PMO to the newly elected and re-elected EC members. We also want to thank the runners up for having participated in the race and to all JCP members who took the time to vote in this year's elections.
  • Training Session. On November 25 the JCP PMO conducted a Training Session with the newly elected EC members. They will take office on December 2nd and their first EC meeting will be on December 9th .
  • In the Spotlight. The JCP PMO recently introduced a new section on jcp.org IN THE SPOTLIGHT. In it the PMO highlights members' accomplishments and the thoughts they expressed about the JCP program over time. We are inviting you to contribute directly to In The Spotlight and share your own experience with the JCP or that of a colleague whose JCP activity you think should be showcased for outstanding merits.

**Upcoming Events in December**


  • Sun TechDays, Tokyo, Dec. 2 - 4, 2008.
    Patrick Curran will host a JCP BOF on December 3, 19:00 - 20:00, Tokyo >Midtown Hall and Conference.
    JCP members, Spec Leads, Expert Group members based in Tokyo are welcome to join Patrick at the BOF. Patrick will also host a JCP BOF session at InfoQ Club Tokyo on December 5.
  • DeVoxx, Antwerp, Dec. 8 - 12, 2008
    The JCP will participate with a BOF session about developing JSRs in an open and transparent manner. If you are participating at DeVoxx you are invited to join the JCP BOF on Tuesday, December 9, 19:00 - 20:00, Room 2, at the MetroPolis Business Center

Open Call For Papers


  • CommunityOne 2009 Conferences East and West have been announced. The CommunityOne East event is March 18 - 19, 2009 in New York City. The CommunityOne West is returning to San Francisco on June 1, 2009. CFP is open until December 15, 2008.
  • Now Open! JavaOne Conference Call for Papers.
    JavaOne 2009 will be June 2-5, 2009 at The Moscone Center San Francisco, CA. The Call for Papers deadline is December 19, 2008.
  • Jazoon'09, The International Conference on Java Technology, will take place in Zurich from 22 to 25 June 2009. The Call for Papers is now open for all conference tracks.
  • The Call for Papers is now open for ApacheCon US 2009, taking place 2-6 November in Oakland, California. Proposals are now being accepted and can be revised at anytime until the submissions closing deadline of 28 February 2009.

The Spec Leads who would like to contribute content to articles in developer publications (print and/or on-line) please contact the JCP PMO. The JCP receives leads from publications on a daily basis and is inviting you to take advantage of the opportunity to share your work under the JCP with broader audiences via our program of contributed articles.
To make sure you are not missing submission deadlines for upcoming articles to which you can contribute content or by line please make sure you make your interest known at the earliest convenience at corina@jcp.org

If the JSRs you have worked on fit the focus of the following leads please send an email to corina@jcp.org to find out more and indicate your interest to contribute content:
