The 2005 Executive Committee (EC) Elections are coming to a close –
there are only a few days left to vote. The JSPA 2 contact(s) for each
JCP member are obligated to vote again in this phase of the elections
and have been sent their voting PIN via email on 8 November. There are 4
open seats remaining – 2 on the SE/EE EC and 2 on the ME EC. If you have
not already done so, please go to the voting web site and cast your vote
before midnight PST on this Monday, 14 November! Results will be
available on the same site on Tuesday, 15 November.
The December EC Face-to-Face Meeting & JCP Training will take place
12-16 December, in conjunction with ApacheCon, US, in San Diego, CA. For
information on the training being held 15-16 December, please contact
Liz@jcp.org.
As a conference sponsor, the JCP Program is also offering 10 full
scholarships to ApacheCon for Java technology students. To apply for

The JavaOne Call for Papers is now open through 30 November. This is the place to propose Technical Sessions, Tutorials, Industry Panels, Technical Case Studies and Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BOFs) for
JavaOne 2006, being held May 16-19 in San Francisco. Subject areas for
presentations are Core Platform (Java SE), Core Enterprise (Java EE),
Desktop, Web Tier, Tools, Mobile and Embedded Devices, and Cool Stuff.
Potential JavaOne attendees can also offer ideas for conference content
by posting suggestions on the Planning JavaOne 2006 forum.

Summaries of JCP program Executive Committee meetings are available for
JCP program members. Most recently the April and May summaries have been
added (use your participant access password) for viewing.

The EC is changing 15 - 22 November 2005. This means no 2 week ballots
can start on 15 November. The PMO will be on holiday 24 - 25 November
and on winter vacation from 26-30 December 2005. This means no 2 week
ballots can start on 13, 20 or 27 December. Also, no Community Review or
Early Draft Review ballot can start on 20 or 27 December and no
Maintenance Review can end between 23 December 2005 and 1 January 2006.

leads? The JCP conducts outreach to the press with JSR news on an
ongoing bi-weekly basis. If would like to

JSR 285, Performance Management API, is now available for review. This
JSR will provide for the monitoring and management of the performance of
an information or telecommunications network.
- JSR 281, IMS Services API, holds its Kick-off meeting this week in
Munich. This JSR is intended to enable application programmers to easily
write applications that can integrate with the IP Multimedia Subsystem
(IMS). Important technologies like high-level IMS functionality , Push
to Talk over Cellular (PoC) services and Group List Management (GLM)
services will be supported by this.
- JSR 231 , Java Bindings for OpenGL, is now available for Early Draft
Review. This review closes on 18 November.
- JSR 257, Contactless Communication API, is now available for Public
Review. This review closes on 21 November.
- JSR 202 , Contactless Communication API, is now available for Public
Review. This review closes on 21 November.
- JSR 233, J2EE Mobile Device Management and Monitoring Specification,
is now available for Public Review. This review closes on 5 December.
- The Proposed Final Draft of JSR 224, Java API for XML-Based Web
Services 2.0, is now available.
- The Proposed Final Draft of JSR 250, Common Annotations for the Java
Platform is now available.
- The Expert Groups for JSR 164, SIMPLE Presence, and JSR 165, SIMPLE
Instant Messaging, have completed their work and published the Final
Release of the specifications.
