JUGPH: Java in Education Initiative
IntroductionThe Java User Group Philippines (JUG PH) is a revitalized Java User Group focusing on Java, Cloud and AI Technologies. Due to the inactivity of the other Java Communities, we are reviving the community and bringing Java back in the game again. We started in 2023 and we have been continuously doing meetups, partnering with large tech communities for conferences and their meetups and doing bootcamps. We are primarily part of Friends of OpenJDK User Groups and now a part of Oracle Java User Groups and Java Community Process (JCP) Program. Starting 2024, JUG PH is a Partner Member of the JCP. You can learn more about JUG PH on our social media: jugph | Facebook | Linktree Java User Group LeadershipJUG PH is composed of 3 leaders and has been actively contributing to the Java Community.
Additionally, JUG PH has their respective advisors in the following area.
MeetupsJUG PH holds its meetups bi-monthly and has been consistent in implementing this schedule. Various companies have expressed their interest in partnering as venue hosts, including ING Hubs Philippines, Orange and Bronze Software Labs, Maya Philippines, and Pax8 Philippines. Some of these companies have already served as venues for our meetups. Additionally, we have assisted the Philippines Software Industry Association in involving more Java speakers from Friends of OpenJDK and IBM in the Software Conference Philippines, the biggest annual event for the Philippine software industry. We held our first Modern Java Bootcamp in July 2024 at AWS Philippines. DEVCON Philippines Manila Chapter assisted us in implementing this bootcamp focusing on new Java features. This bootcamp focused on 2 sessions. In the morning, Java Basics, Java 8 to 13 was introduced and in the afternoon session was Java 14 - 21 features. The speakers of these topics were Eric Marc Martin and Jansen Ang. Blog Post: JUG PH: 1-Day Modern Java Development Bootcamp ![]()
