This year's JCP Award nominee list has been finalized, and the winners will be announced Tuesday evening during the JCP party at the Infusion Lounge.
This year's three award categories are Member of the Year, Outstanding Spec Lead, and Most Significant JSR.
The JCP Member/Participant of the Year shines the light on one individual who has shown the leadership and commitment that led to the most positive impact on the community.
The Outstanding Spec Lead highlights the individual who led a specific JSR with exceptional efficiency and execution.

What to Expect
Process Updates -- JCP.Next
We are constantly moving the Java platform forward, and JCP.Next represents a 2-3 year effort to evolve the JCP Program.
JCP 2.8 (JSR 348) brought significant improvements to JCP in late 2011.
JSR 355, EC Merge, made modifications to the EC structure in order to better reflect the true nature of "Java as one platform." It merges two ECs into one, integrating the currently separate Java SE and Java ME committees. It was approved on August 22, 2012, and will go into effect as JCP 2.9, following the JCP EC Elections in Fall 2012.
JSR 358, A major revision of the Java Community Process, has recently been approved by the ECs to continue development. This revision includes much more legal consultation on changes to the Java Specification Participation Agreement (JSPA) and several Intellectual Property (IP) provisions. You might think of JCP 2.8 and JCP 2.9 as addressing the "low-hanging fruit" of changes to improve the JCP program, with JSR 358 completing the broader goals.
Annual JCP EC Elections
After JavaOne 2012, the Annual Fall Elections will be held to fill the seats coming up for election on the Executive Committee.
What is the Java Community Process (JCP) Program?
The JCP program is the open, participative process to develop and revise the Java technology specifications, reference implementations, and test suites. We're here to continually evolve the Java platform with the help of the international Java developer community. That's you.
Get involved in Java Technology through the JCP program.
First, anyone with an internet connection can review and comment on draft specifications and Java Specification Request (JSR) proposals, as well as read the JCP blog and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
Next, you can register with the JCP and contribute directly by nominating yourself to join an Expert Group, maintain a watch-list of JSRs of interest, request to be associated with an existing JCP Member, or become a JCP Member.
And as you become more involved, you can even propose new JSRs, vote in the Executive Committee elections, and run for a seat on an Executive Committee. You're invited and welcome.
