Nokia shares BEA and Sun concerns. Security issues seem to be scattering in several JSRs and therefore it is bit difficult to get a clear understanding of (the web services) security model. JSR 109 does mention this, and therefore JSR 183 should be developed in accordance with JSR 109. A worrying detail is that judging from emails, spec leads of JSR155 and JSR183 did not initially share the same clear view, whether these two JSRs are by scope similar or not. However, security is an important topic, and thus Nokia votes yes trusting that raised issues will be addressed.

BEA shares some of the same concerns raised by Sun, in particular the uncertain status of some of the security specifications mentioned as references, which will make it difficult to develop Java APIs that developers can rely on.

Sun is concerned that this JSR proposal is rather vague
and that there are already a large number of JSRs around
XML and web service security.  However, based on the
understanding that this JSR will attempt to integrate
cleanly with other relevant security JSRs (such as 104,
105, 106, 155) and will avoid being unduly tied to any
specific underlying security protocols, Sun is voting YES.
