JSR #290 JavaTM Language & XML User Interface Markup Integration
Community Summary The materials on this page are provided by the Spec Lead of this JSR for evaluation and feedback. These materials are not final, and are subject to change as the JSR progresses through the process. May 4th, 2011JSR 290 is now planned to be posted for FAB/FR in a very short time frame. While the specification, RI and TCK were finalized and ready for FAB/FR submission since September 2009, we are now getting closer to finalize also the administrative (process, terms, legal...) part. stay tuned.July 1st, 2009Due to changes in the JCP Process (now v1.7), FAB needs to be posted along at FR time. This implies that our original plan to have FAB in June and FR in August/September is invalidated. New FAB/FR posting date is now End of September! We plan however to maybe compensate the intermediate step by posting an additional PFD later in July/August.April 17th, 2009The JSR 290 Expert Group has posted its specification for PFD#2 on April 17th, 2009. This publication is intended to increase awareness and transparency towards the community. It will be up on or before May 1st.March 31st, 2009The JSR 290 Expert Group has agreed that the API is stable now and has frozen the spec. Currently the RI and TCK teams are working concentrated on this last mile. Now, only minor updates (typos, descriptions, clarifications ...) are expected and the spec will be posted accordingly.January 12th, 2009The proposed delivery has been adapted to be inline with the primary goal of integrating with MSA2 and comply to its schedule. The RI and TCK will be delivered as one bundle to run on Sun's WTK, based on CLCD 1.1 and MIDP 2.x. A bundle based on Sun's CDC toolkit, based on CDC 1.1 and PBP 1.1 will be delivered based on market demand.August 15th, 2008The Proposed Business Terms associated with JSR-290 have been adapted to be in-line with the discussion we had in the case of JSR-280 XML API. Here are the new business terms:
In addition to providing access to the TCK and RI to those existing
licensees of Sun's Java technology whose agreements with Sun already
entitle them to such access, subject to the terms and conditions of
those agreements, Sun Microsystems, Inc., will make the TCK and RI for
JSR-290 ("Java Language & XML User Interface Markup Integration") available for licensing separately as follows:
TCK - Technology Compatibility Kit RI - Reference Implementation August 7th, 2007The JSR 290 Expert Group has published its EDR specification on March 12th 2007 and the public review ended on April 11th 2007. The Expert Group is now working on the Public Review Draft. The publication date for the PR draft and subsequent review will be posted to this page when available.Spec Open Issues
