Patrick reported that Trisha Gee will be an additionl alternate representative for the London Java Community.
Patrick presented the usual EC stats.
Patrick reported that the recent java.net outages were caused by a hardware failure. See the PMO Presentation for details.
Heather Vancura provided an update on the PMO's plans for JavaOne. See the PMO Presentation for details.
Patrick provided an update on the recent launch of Java SE7, noting that it was well-received by the developer community. Bruno Souza agreed.
Patrick reported the new date for the August teleconference and announced that the September face-to-face meeting in New Jersey would be two full days, in order to allow sufficient time for JSR 348 discussions. He also suggested that the September meeting would provide an opportunity to begin discussion of how to merge the two ECs.
Patrick presented an overview of JSR 348 (see presentation.) Members discussed the current state of the document drafts and made suggestions that have since been incorprated into later drafts. Josh Bloch expressed his discontent with the process, arguing that it was simply "reaarranging deckchairs on the Titanic." Other members expressed their satisfaction with the process, and a straw poll showed that the majority agreed we should move forward to Early Draft Review.
