Here is your December edition of the PMO News Bulletin. This Bulletin
is sent to JCP (sm) Members, Spec Leads and Experts and is scheduled to
be a monthly insert in your email inbox. This edition covers some recent
news, the JCP's Anniversary, the final EC Election results,
a JCP success story, reminders for upcoming JCP training & closure dates

** FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY **

The JCP celebrated five years of community collaboration at ApacheCon
2003 in Las Vegas--
complete with cake, ice cream and singing! Read "The JCP Program

** EC ELECTIONS: FINAL RESULTS **

The newly elected EC members took office on 25 November 2003--Ericsson
and Intel were elected to the Micro Edition (ME) EC; ratified were
Matsushita, Motorola, Siemens and Vodafone.
On the Standard/Enterprise (SE/EE) side, ratified members included
Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Oracle. Elected were industry experts
Doug Lea and Richard Monson-Haefel.

** WIRELESS SUCCESS STORY **

The latest JCP success story features two Siemens led JSRs, JSR 120 and
JSR 205, titled
"Rich and Rapid Communication with Wireless Messaging API".
From handset manufacturers Siemens, Motorola, Nokia, and Sony Ericsson
to Aplix Corporation, learn how their JCP involvement is helping them to
deliver standardized Java messaging capabilities to their customers.

** UPCOMING JCP TRAINING **

Mark your calendars for the upcoming JCP Training and Communication
sessions. All JCP Members are invited and EC Members, Spec Leads,
Expert Group Members and Program-Product Managers are especially
encouraged to attend the Communication session.

** JCP PMO CLOSURE DATES **
-----------------------------
The PMO will be on winter holiday vacation from 24 December 2003 - 5
January 2004. This
means no 2 week ballots can start on 16, 23 or 30 December. Also, no
Community Review ballot can start on 23 or 30 December and no
Maintenance Review can end between 24 December 2003 and 5 January 2004.
** NOTEWORTHY JSR NEWS **
---------------------------
This section of the News Bulletin calls out JSRs that have news to share
with the Java Community. If your JSR has something newsworthy to report
then send an alert ("Hey PMO!") to pmo@jcp.org.
- JSR 215, Java Community Process, version 2.6, passed the Final
Approval Ballot by the SE/EE and ME EC.
Final release and implementation is expected in early 2004.

- JSR 151, Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4 has gone final. The
Final Release of the specification is available from the Java
Community Process Web site at: http://jcp.org/en/jsr/stage?listBy=final

- JSR 13, Decimal Arithmetic Enhancement, has posted a Proposed Final
Draft Specification.

JSR Process improvement reminder: Effective 2 October 2003, the PMO has
started to host Final Releases on JCP.org. As with other releases,
this is an option the PMO is providing. You may choose not to take
advantage of this service and host your releases from Public Review on
your own servers.
Remember, all JSRs operating under JCP 2.5 (the current version of the
JCP) require that all expert group member entities have signed the JSPA2
located here: http://jcp.org/en/participation/membership.
