Hello JCP Members,
Here is your October edition of the PMO News Bulletin.

This Bulletin is sent to JCP Members, Spec Leads and Experts and is
scheduled to be a monthly insert in your email inbox. This edition
informs you about the EC Elections, JCP.ORG hints & tips and more.

** JCP Election 2001 Highlights **
----------------------------------
The JCP 2001 election ratification process has been completed and the
3 seats on each committee that were up for ratification will be filled
as follows:

SE/EE Executive Committee:
- Apache Software Foundation
- Borland Software Corporation
- Caldera Systems

ME Executive Committee:
- Insignia Solutions
- Research In Motion, LTD (RIM)
- SONY

You too can self-nominate for the two open seats on each committee.
Open nominations are from 9 a.m. Pacific Time Wednesday, October 17,
2001 through Midnight Pacific Time Wednesday, October 31, 2001, and
voting runs from November 1 - 14, 2001.

To vote in the elections you will need a PIN. These were emailed to
each JCP Member's primary contact. If you mislaid that email or to find
out who the primary contact at your organization is, please email

** The JCP @ JavaOne Japan **

Come see us at the Pacifico in Yokohama, Japan from November 27-30.
There will be a JCP member reception on the evening of November 27,
the PMO and the ECs will host a press panel on November 28. More detail
to follow. Watch for your email invitation to the member event on
the 27th over the next week.


** Notable JSRs **
------------------
This section of the News Bulltin calls out JSRs that have news to share
with the Java Community. If your JSR has something newsworthy to report
then send an alert ("Hey PMO!") to pmo@jcp.org.

A number of JSRs successfully passed the Final Approval Ballot by the
ECs. The Program Office congratulates the expert groups on the
completion of:
- JSR 16, J2EE Connector Architecture
- JSR 19, Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0
- JSR 21, JAIN JCC Specification
- JSR 23, JAIN MGCP API Specification
- JSR 53, Java Servlet 2.3 and JavaServer Pages 1.2 Specifications
- JSR 58, J2EE 1.3 Specification

JSR 39, Java Servlet and JSP Performance Benchmark, has been withdrawn.
