The current spec supports only "single-line". 
To think of TV features like DVB-MHP, the "multi-line" feature is not part of the current DVB MHP spec, but it is very likely that it will be part of  version 2.0. We believe that the multi-line issue is not limited to the TV area and that
it makes sense to have that functionality in the Personal profile. For this reason, we think it is better to support the multi-line in the personal profile.

PP already includes some extensions to java.awt taken from J2SE. One area not currently included is support for multi-pixel wide lines & shapes whose border is such lines. Many other embedded system graphics APIs have support for this functionality. Inclusion of a very pragmatic limited subset of Java2D to address this functionality should be considered.
