I appreciate the new Java version and pace, but I'm not so sure about the 18.3 version number. I understand it fits Oracle product versioning (like WLS 12.2 etc.) but given the number is clearly based on a year, calling it 18 instead of 2018 feels very 90s with products like Windows 95 and the related "Y2K bugs" by dropping 2 extra digits. Examples like Ubuntu make it somewhat more understandable.

I am not a big fan of the new versioning scheme. While there is value in clearly communicating the "departure dates" of the release train, I think this should be demonstrated by doing so rather than incorporating it in the version number.
