Nevetheless, we appreciate the contributions made by the JSR 76 expert group and encourage the expert group to continue to enhance the specification to work with the new approach for JSR 78 proposed by BEA.

In the previous vote on this JSR, the EC raised concerns about its relationship to J2EE, CS!v2, and IIOP.  These concerns have not been adequately addressed.  The programmatic and protocol-specific approach to security runs counter to the J2EE progamming model where these issues are managed implicitly by the container and are not tied to any particular protocol.  A change has been made to the spec to enable CSIv2 support, which we welcome, but there is still no provision in the spec for implementing CSIv2 over IIOP.  Also, this spec depends on JSR78, which we believe should not proceed to public review in its present form.
