  We strongly make a request for supporting the integer fixed-point type definition in JSR-184 specification the same as the common lite profile of OpenGL ES. Preferably, the floating type definition for the API or data format in the current JSR-184 specification should be changed the place to the optional support. 

( Reason )
The following statements are declared in Background of JSR-184 specification:
- The API must be efficiently implementable on top of OpenGL ES.
- The API must be efficiently implementable without floating-point hardware.

Nevertheless, many APIs and many data formats employ the floating-point type definition in the current specification against those declarations. We appraise that the current specification can not be worked efficiently, because;
(1) floating-point processing is slowly executed by software emulation since almost all mobile equipments (mobile phone, PDA, and etc.) are not provided with a hardware for floating point processing,
(2) the common lite profile of OpenGL ES can not be used as the graphics library for JSR-184 in spite of the expectation that the common lite profile is specified for mobile equipments.
