August 2001
Hello JCP Members,
Here is your August edition of the PMO News Bulletin.
This Bulletin is sent to JCP Members, Spec Leads and Experts and is
scheduled to be a monthly insert in your email inbox. This edition
warns for an upcoming posting delay, alerts you to the EC elections,
calls for papers for JavaOne 2002 and more!

** Recent News **

** Draft Spec posting delay **
------------------------------
Our Web Engineering team and the servers as well are moving at the end
of August. The Program Office cannot post any of your Public Reviews -
Final Reviews on our site between 28 Aug - 12 Sep 2001. We apologize
for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have planned a release
during this time frame, please let us know as soon as possible, so we
can work with you to either do the release before this time or have
everything ready immediately after 12 September 2001.
** JCP EC Elections: October 2001 - November 2001 **

Preparations for the Executive Committee (EC) Elections are underway,
with the ratification ballot opening on October 1.
The JSPA contacts for each JCP member company are eligible to vote and
will be sent the voting materials. To confirm that we have the correct
JSPA contact within your company please send e-mail to
participant-access@jcp.org.
Following the ratifications, nominations for the open elections can be
submitted. If you or your company is interested in joining one of the
ECs this is a good time to prepare your nomination. The nomination
template will become available from the web site on October 17.
** Notable JSRs **
------------------
This section of the News Bulltin calls out JSRs that have news to share
with the Java Community. If your JSR has something newsworthy to report
then send an alert ("Hey PMO!") to pmo@jcp.org.
JSR 92 Call for Experts
-----------------------
JSR 92 has been updated to provide pointers to documents that describe
how localizable text is incorporated into the IBM WebSphere Application
Server, Version 4.0 product. See http://jcp.org/jsr/detail/92.jsp#3.
These design documents and presentations may be used as a starting point
for the Expert Group which is now forming and the JSR will get underway.
If you are interested please fill out JSR 92's Expert Nomination form at
http://jcp.org/jsr/egnom/92.jsp.
Expert Groups

If you are a Spec Lead then please check the listing of your Expert
Group on the JSR page and be sure to send the PMO any additions,
deletions or changes. This information determines who has access to the
Expert Group home page.
** New JavaTest Harness **
--------------------------
A new version of JavaTest harness, version 3.0.1, has been released and
is available for those that have signed a JavaTest harness license. The
3.0.1 release of the JavaTest harness is a maintenance release. No
significant features were added but a number of improvements were made.
Some of the improvements in version 3.0.1 include:
- Improved robustness when loading work directories
- Validation that the test suite and work directory match
- Better error messaging for problems encountered while loading
the test suite
- The harness now produces a report so that the user can view
configuration information

** 2002 JavaOne Conference - Call For Papers **

Sun Microsystems is seeking proposals for sessions for JavaOne, Sun's
Worldwide Java Developer Conference(SM). The Call for Papers process
begins August 31, 2001. Help shape the 2002 Conference by submitting
