JCP PMO News Bulletin April 2001
Hello JCP Members,
Here is your April edition of the PMO News Bulletin.
This Bulletin is sent to JCP Members, Spec Leads and Experts and is
scheduled to be a (bi-)monthly insert in your email inbox. In this
edition you can read about JavaOne including a Call for Demos, the
Spec Lead Guide and Notable JSRs.

** Recent News **

** It`s JavaOne Time! **
------------------------
Well, not yet but almost!
JavaOne 2001 is being held June 4 - 8 at the Moscone Convention Center
in San Francisco, California. Don`t miss the JCP related content this
year.
JCP sessions will be in the "Java Technology at Work" track, including a
technical session entitled, "The Java Community Process (SM) initiative,
an Update" (TS-178:Fundamentals). There will also be a Birds of a
Feather (BOF) session, and an after hours event for JCP Members. More

** JavaOne, Call for Demos **

This is your chance to be a star and become famous!
The JavaOne Team is looking for great technology demonstrations to be
highlighted during the Keynote program at the JavaOne 2001 conference.
If you have an innovative, cool demonstration which showcases Java
technology (in the high "WOW !!" factor), please submit your
proposal through the online submission form by April 30, 2001.
Folks who were invitied to the Keynote Demonstrations in the past
have all agreed that this is a premier place to showcase Java-enabled
product and technology.

** Spec Lead Guide **
---------------------
There is a new version of the Guide for Specification Leads.
The Guide gives hints and tips on how to run a JSR and what information
is required at each step of the process. The Guide advises Spec Leads on
the expectations that expert groups and the Executive Committees place
upon this important function.

** Notable JSRs **
---------------------
This section of the News Bulltin calls out JSRs that have news to share
with the Java Community. If your JSR has something newsworthy to report
then send an alert ("Hey PMO!") to jcp-pmo@sun.com.
JSR 71
------
JSR 71, JMX-TMN Specification is now building steam.
With the Spec Lead assignment resolved the initial, small, Expert Group
is looking to add more members to the group. The JSR is currently
working
on the Community Draft.
JMX-TMN Specification is part of the second phase of the
Java Management Extensions (JMXTM) umbrella initiative. It specifies the
interoperability between the Telecommunication Management Network (TMN)
standards and JMX.
