  • Missing two meetings in a row results in a loss of voting privileges until two consecutive meetings have been attended.

  • Missing five meetings in a row, or missing two-thirds of the meetings in any consecutive 12-month period results in loss of the EC seat.

There are no changes in voting privileges as a result of this meeting.

Personnel Changes / EC Elections

Heather reviewed the results of the 2022 JCP EC Elections, and thanked London Java Community members for their years of service on the JCP EC, and welcomed new EC Member, Microsoft, represented by Martijn Verburg.

EC Stats

Heather presented the usual EC stats (see the presentation for details).

Java in Education

Heather reviewed the summary of discussions in the Java in Education. We reviewed that EC Members can use the social media template to promote the importance and need for Java developers, and to spread the word about Java in Education for JUG leaders. Several brief videos for JUG leaders focused on how developers are utilizing Java in industry, are now published on the GitHub wiki. Volunteers can contact Heather to participate.

Heather leads a monthly discussion with Java User Group (JUG) leaders to discuss the workshops they are organizing in their local communities and provide guidance and best practices; the next discussion is January 28. In the Public EC Meeting we provided updates from Oracle University on their Java training and certification programs.

JCP Award Winners

Heather reviewed the 2022 JCP Annual Awards and congratulated the winners of the Awards, Joe Darcy and JSR 394, Java SE 19.

Project Amber Updates

Brian Goetz presented updates on Project Amber and thoughts on Paving the Onramp (see the presentation for details). Brian will attend our next EC Meeting to allow time for questions and comments on the updates.
