JSR #370
JavaTM API for RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS 2.1) Specification
JSR Renewal Ballot
Ballot duration: 2016-11-29   to: 2016-12-12

Special Vote Instructions:

Dear EC members,

As announced at JavaOne 2016, our intention is to complete JSR 370 as part of Java EE 8.

The main theme of the JSR 370 is to deliver changes related to the reactive programming paradigm, which includes:

- non blocking I/O support in filters, interceptors and message body providers,
- reactive client API,
- support for SSE.

We also have compiled a list of further enhancements, some smaller in the impact, others in the priority, which we'd like to discuss within the EG:

- integration with new Java EE specifications (like JSON-B),
- making JAX-B optional, based on the runtime capabilities,
- improving integration with other Java EE JSRs.

The list is not complete and will be subject to discussions within the EG. In order to meet the relatively aggressive Java EE platform release date, we might need to drop some features or reduce their scope if necessary.

We are expecting to submit an EDR during the first quarter of 2017.

Thank you,
JSR-370 Specification Leads
