SANTA CLARA,CA - April 28,2008 - The Java Community ProcessSM (JCPSM) Program Management Office (PMO) and the Executive Committees, today announced the nominations for the 2008 JCP Program Annual Awards. Among the leading international honors for Java technology, the JCP Program Awards recognize excellence in Java standards development and innovation. This year the Executive Committees (EC) nominated the following members, specifications leads and Java Specifications Requests (JSRs) as candidates in six categories:
The Apache Software Foundation, Intel, Nokia, and the TM Forum.
Patrick Curran, Doug Lea, and Stephen Colebourne and Michael Nascimento Santos (JSR 310).
JSR 294, Improved Modularity Support in the Java Programming Language; JSR 316, Java EE 6; and JSR 319, Availability Management.
JSR 287, Scalable Vector Graphics for Java ME; JSR 290, Java Language and User Interface Markup Integration; and JSR 320, Service Framework.
Alan Bateman (JSR 203, More New I/O APIs for the JavaTM Platform ("NIO.2"); Stefan Hepper (JSR 286); John Rose (JSR 292); and Michael Ernst and Alex Buckley (JSR 308).

The JCP PMO is launching a new Star Spec Leads Program at the 2008 JavaOne Conference. The new program will recognize top Spec Lead performance, and will encourage and reward exceptional service to the community.
