BEA is concerned about the scope of this JSR in permitting arbitrary application contexts to be transmitted across various communications protocols, many of which have no standard way of transmitting such data. In general, contexts are intended for system use as the transaction context used by CORBA OTS and exposing these artifacts to application programmers does nothing to achieve the goal of ease of use for the Java programmer. This is exactly the type of activity that cause CORBA to become much too complex for the ordinary programmer. We would like to see some constraints on scope established by the expert group (since there are adequate YES votes to start) before voting on a community draft.
