Reference Implementation and Technology Compatibility Kit:
  • Getting the JSR 231 Reference Implementation

The email alias for any additional questions about acquiring the JSR 231 Reference Implementation or Technology Compatibility Kit is: jsr231-support@sun.com

In order to facilitate maximum community participation for the Java Binding for the OpenGL API, we use the JOGL project on java.net found at https://jogl.dev.java.net. The JOGL source code can be found there, licensed under a liberal source code license (mostly licensed as BSD except where we use other parties' licensed code). We take a snapshot of the code from this project every few months, run the Technology Compatibility Kit on the source code, and then officially make it the Reference Implementation for each formal Java Binding for the OpenGL API release.

So there are two ways to get the source code for the Reference Implementation: 1) Open an account on java.net and download the source code of the JOGL project or 2) contact Sun through the support alias above and formally request the last Reference Implementation snapshot.

In addition to the JOGL web site, a wealth of general information about JOGL and JSR 231 on the JOGL forum which can be found at: http://www.javagaming.org/forums/index.php?board=25.0.

  • Getting the JSR 231 Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK)

The email alias for any additional questions about acquiring the JSR 231 Reference Implementation or Technology Compatibility Kit is: jsr231-support@sun.com

In order to acquire the TCK from Sun, one must first sign and fax the TCK license to Sun. The TCK license along with instructions can be found here:

    https://jogl.dev.java.net/tck-license.html

In order to get more detailed questions answered, please send email to the support alias above.

The TCK will be available to Qualified Not-for-Profits and Qualified Individuals for no charge as per Section 5.F.III of the JSPA 2. Details on the Compatibility Testing Scholarship Program can be found at http://java.sun.com/scholarship/.
